Dolores O’Riordan’s Cause of Death Confirmed as Drowning

Irish Rock star and front woman of The Cranberries, Dolores O’Riordan, was found dead in her hotel room in Park Lane, London on January 15th of this year.

Today (Thursday 6th), Coroner Dr. Shirley Radcliffe returned a verdict of accidental death for the 46 year old Limerick native.

Dr. Radcliffe’s report found that the Singer/Songwriter was found to be almost four times over the legal alcohol driving limit. O’Riordan was found by a hotel maid with her head under water level in the bath. The ground of the bathroom floor was said to be covered with empty alcohol containers.

She had a blood alcohol level of 330mg.

While containers for prescription medications were found in the room, only one was slightly over the therapeutic range in her system.

“There was no evidence this was anything other than an accident. This seems to be solely a tragic accident,” Dr Radcliffe said.

Ms O’Riordan’s mother, Eileen, and brother attended the inquest into Ms. O’Riordan’s death and declined to ask any questions.

She was buried in Friarstown, just a short distance from her mother’s Limerick home. Ms O’Riordan is survived by her three children, Taylor (20), Molly (16) and Dakota (12).

Today would have been The Cranberries singer 47th birthday.
